Calling all young poets! We’re inviting kids aged 6–10 to take part in our first-ever Moon Lane Poetry Slam!
It’s your chance to express yourself, perform in front of a crowd, and win a special poetry prize…all while supporting our bookshop!
How to Enter!
Choose one of our four exciting themes (see below!)
Write your own original poem (it can rhyme or not - totally your style!)
Ask a grown-up to donate £3 to our Moon Lane Crowdfunder
Submit your poem by email: info@moonlanebooks.co.uk with your name, your poem and the poem’s title!
Let us know if you'd like to read your poem aloud at the Winners’ Night! 🎤
The Themes!
🧠 "Big Feelings, Little Me"
Poems about emotions, changes, or growing up
🎵 "This Is My Jam!"
Poems about your favourite song, sound, or rhythm
🌍 "My World, My Words"
Poems celebrating your culture, community, or the planet
✨ "Strange & Spectacular"
Poems about the magical, the weird, or the wonderfully unexpected!

Open to ages 6–10
One entry per child
Poems must be original work
Deadline: 30.08.25
£3 donation to enter (goes to our Crowdfunder)

Join us for a lively celebration of our young poets!
🎤 Live performances by top 3 poets from each theme…
📚 Poetry bundle prizes for top entries in each theme
🍰 Cake, drinks, and good vibes
Everyone is welcome to attend — entry is £1 per person at the door (or however much you wish to donate!)
Come cheer on the performers and enjoy a cosy, creative evening!
